Youth Drop-In

Sponsored by the Youth Advisory Committee, the Drop-In welcomes young people ages 12 and up and their friends. Clients and friends enjoy music, fun, food, games and lots of laughs. At least 3 staff, an attendant and volunteers assist throughout the evening. From 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The cost is $3.00 at the door and the location is 2277 South Millway, Mississauga. Mother's Support Group

Mothers of current/active ErinoakKids clients are invited to join our bi-weekly discussion groups. Meetings provide opportunities for mothers to connect with families facing similar journeys and challenges. Discussions may include guest speakers, community connections and self-care strategies. Attend as you can. Coffee and tea will be available. No childcare provided. Babies in laps/car seats can be accommodated. If you are interested in attending, please register by leaving a message with your child’s name, your name and email address. Understanding Behaviour 101

In this workshop you will learn how to define behaviour, including examples of appropriate and challenging behaviour. You will learn how to apply the Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence (A-B-C) Model, looking at the different functions of behaviour and general teaching strategies.

Mentorship Program

ErinoakKids Mentorship Program is comprised of graduates of our Mentorship Training program. We meet once a month to practice our mentorship skills such as active listening, problem solving, giving and receiving feedback and understanding road blocks to communication. Our members use their skills by mentoring other youth at ErinoakKids events and groups such as Teen Drop-In as well as in everyday life situations such as in school and work.

WHO: Graduates of Mentorship Training program (Attendant care will be provided. Please indicate how much assistance with personal care you need, if applicable.)
WHEN: Second Tuesday of each month, September to April, 6-8 p.m.
WHERE: ErinoakKids South Millway
COST: $4/night for pizza (optional).

Sleep Solutions

Steps Towards Positive Change

Once you understand why your child behaves in certain ways, you may wonder what to do next. In this workshop you will learn what happens before an undesired behavior occurs, what to do after it occurs and how to set goals to change the behavior. We will share strategies you can use to teach your child replacement behaviours.

Youth Advisory Committee

Members are clients who are in high school or who have graduated and are between the ages of 14-19. YAC functions in an advisory capacity to different programs at ErinoakKids. This group also sponsors many activities, including the Youth Drop-In, Dances, and the Youth BBQ. This group meets the 3rd Tuesday every month beginning September 20, 2016 to April 16, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at 2277 South Millway, Mississauga. The cost is $4.00 at the door. Reinforcement 101

Teaching Daily Living Skills

In this workshop you will learn to use Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) strategies to teach your child daily living skills. These skills include getting dressed and personal hygiene. The strategies you will learn include prompting, chaining and shaping.
