Bakery employees deliver treat to ErinoakKids

December 23, 2013
Bakery employees from the Mississauga facility of Ready Bake Foods, an operating division of Weston Foods Canada Ltd, visited ErinoakKids today to deliver a donation of more than $20,000.
The gift comes as a result of a month-long employee fundraising campaign, known as Weston Cares.

“Ready Bake Foods is delighted to have been able to contribute to ErinoakKids this year in our annual charity drive Weston Cares,” explained Sara Curwen, VP, Operations. “We have employees who personally know the tremendous value that ErinoakKids provides to children. We are pleased that we could give back to our community through our fundraising efforts in 2013.”

The funds were raised through a variety of methods, including special events and payroll donations. As part of the campaign, parent company George Weston Limited matched every dollar donated by employees as well as their friends and family.

“We are so thankful to the staff at Ready Bake Foods for selecting ErinoakKids as the beneficiary of their fundraising efforts and for their incredible generosity,” said Bridget Fewtrell, President and CEO of ErinoakKids. “On behalf of the children and youth we serve, we extend our deepest gratitude.”

About ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development
ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development is Ontario’s largest children’s treatment centre, serving more than 13,500 children and youth annually who have physical and developmental disabilities, autism, communication disorders, blindness/low vision and hearing loss. Our mission is to help our clients achieve optimal levels of independence, learning, health and well-being. Serving Halton, Peel, Dufferin — and, for some services, Waterloo and Wellington — ErinoakKids has approximately 600 staff and 10 sites from which we provide a comprehensive array of assessment, medical, therapy and support services that help children and their families. In 2011 the Ministry of Children and Youth Services approved a redevelopment project to enable ErinoakKids to consolidate its current facilities into three larger sites which will be ideally situated for easy access within our catchment area, and designed specifically for the care of children and youth with special needs. The new facilities are expected to open in early 2017. For more information about ErinoakKids please visit www.ErinoakKids.ca.
