Spring 2017 Program Description

Challenger Baseball Spring Training ($10)
 

This program will help all the baseball players get ready for the upcoming season. We will work on throwing, catching,trapping and batting.

Participant Criteria:
 
  • Ages: 6-13
  • Able to participate in group activities and discussion with minimal support
  • Able to attend to a task for a minimum of 5 minutes
  • This program takes place within a school gym

 

Active Start ($50)


A guided activity-based play program created for children with a developmental disability that will allow children and their caregivers an opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate, skill-based sessions to promote basic motor skills such as balance, running, jumping and ball skills.

Cricket (cost TBD)
 

Participants will enjoy learning the fundamentals of cricket through engaging and suitable drills, as well as teamwork, fairplay and fitness. Emphasis on participation and fun!Indoor Training Center.

  • Ages: 8-13
  • Able to participate in group activities with minimal support attend to a task for least 5 minutes
  • Able to walk independently with or without equipment or independently propel a wheelchair
  • Have active control of one or both hands/arms

 

Seed to Feed Gardening ($100)


This program allows participants to follow the life cycle of various foods, from planting seeds to food on the table. Participants will gain knowledge of seasonal plants and an appreciation for nature. Space is limited!

Riverwood Conservancy

Tuesdays, 4:30 – 5:30pm
May 16 – June 20
 
Participant Criteria:
 
  • Ages: 8-13
  • Able to participate in group activities and discussion with minimal support
  • Able to attend to a task for a minimum of 5 minutes
  • This program takes place within a large public conservation area and may not be appropriate  for children who may try to leave the program area

 

Little Chefs ($60)


Participants have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills in meal preparation. Simple weekly menus will be planned and prepared, while learning kitchen safety, hygiene and clean up.

ErinoakKids South Millway

Participant Criteria:
 
  • Ages: 8-13
  • Able to participate in group activities and discussion with minimal support
  • Able to demonstrate awareness of safety precautions in a kitchen environment

 

Family Music ($100 per family)


Come explore your love of music with various instruments and interactive activities! (Please choose the group based on the age of the family member who is the ErinoakKids client)

ErinoakKids South Millway

Age 4-7: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Age 8-12: 5:30pm – 6:30pm

  • Able to participate in group activities
  • Able to follow directions with or without support

 

Bocce Club (FREE)


If you love to play Bocce or would like to learn this is for you! The goal of Bocce is to throw or bowl game balls so that they land as close as possible to a target ball. Bocce is played in over 42 countries and is one of the Paralympic Summer sports!

  • Ages: All
  • Able to participate in group activities with minimal support
  • Able to attend to a task for a minimum of 5 minutes

  • Only current ErinoakKids clients are eligible to participate unless otherwise stated. Participants must meet all participant criteria. New participants may be asked to complete an assessment to ensure suitability for the program. Acceptance to the program is at the discretion of the facilitator.
  • Programs do not provide one-to-one support for attendant care (lifting, toileting, or administration of medication) or behavioral support. If assistance is required, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian or appointed attendant to fulfill these duties. Volunteers can only facilitate your child’s participation in activities and are not permitted to assist with these duties.
  • Registrations will be accepted until 1 week before the start date of the program. If you want to register after this please call ahead.
