Social Work Services

Social Work services at ErinoakKids are provided by social workers who have a Masters of Social Work degree, and are registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
 
Social Workers are professionally trained to support children, youth and families to cope with the impact of illness, disability and complex health needs.  
 
They care for the social, emotional and service needs of children, youth and their families, while respecting the need for client and family confidentiality.
 

Referrals

Clients and their families may be referred to Social Work services if:

  • the client’s age is within the age range mandate of their specific service stream
  • the client is receiving one of the core services at ErinoakKids i.e. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and/or Communication Services
  • the client and/or family member(s) are experiencing adjustment difficulties related to the client’s diagnosis and its associated challenges.

  • Family and Caregiver stress
  • Individual and Interpersonal concerns
  • Social isolation
  • Resources
  • Parenting
  • Future Planning Needs

A client must be receiving at least one ErinoakKids core (main) service to access Social Work Services.
