Media Release: ErinoakKids Partners with Superfan Nav Bhatia to Raise Awareness of Autism Supports Available for Ontario Families

MISSISSAUGA – November 24, 2020 – ErinoakKids Centre for Treatment and Development has partnered with Superfan Nav Bhatia to raise awareness and understanding of autism support services available to children and their families. Superfan Nav Bhatia, South-Asian Canadian entrepreneur, was sincerely inspired by the warmth and quality of services provided at ErinoakKids during his visits to two Erinoakkids sites earlier this year. Recognizing the lack of knowledge and conversations about autism care that may exist in communities in need of such supports, he encourages families to have honest conversations and be open to seeking the right support to help their children achieve their fullest potential.

“We rarely speak about autism and the impact it has on our children and families. I myself didn’t know much about what families with children living with autism go through on a daily basis,” said Nav. “I had the opportunity to visit ErinoakKids prior to public health measures, and, seeing children and families being supported the way I’d want my own family treated, inspired me to become a voice for ErinoakKids.”

Recognizing access to autism care may have been impacted during the pandemic, ErinoakKids staff adapted supports and programs to provide parents with safe, flexible resources delivered in a customized manner, safely in-person on site and online. In-person therapy sessions are offered at ErinoakKids sites in Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville, and virtual services are available for families wherever they live.

“Our goal is to provide the consistency in learning and structure of daily routine that parents are actively seeking,” said Bridget Fewtrell, President and CEO of ErinoakKids. “Nav’s warmth and willingness to interact with parents and connect with the kids resonated with the collaborative approach we seek to develop with all of our families. Partnering with Nav helps more families know we are here to help them every step of the way in their own journey, and that we are ready to help their children grow and develop to reach their fullest potential.”
