Infection Prevention and Control

Please visit our COVID-19 Information page to review the special infection control protocols in place during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

At ErinoakKids, the health of our clients, families and our staff is always a priority. Clients, parents and their caregivers must refrain from coming to ErinoakKids at any time if they exhibit one or more of these symptoms;

  • Fever (temperature over 38 degrees C)
  • Infected eyes or skin
  • Any type of contagious or communicable disease such as influenza, strep, measles, mumps, rubella or chickenpox
  • Vomiting and diarrhea - if vomiting or diarrhea has occurred two or more times in the past 24 hours
  • Rash with fever and/or behavior change (fatigue, pale, poor appetite, or increase in behaviors such as crying, hitting and screaming).
  • An acute cold with fever, runny nose and eyes and a progressive cough.
  • If your child is unable to participate in activities due to feeling unwell. Any medication required to treat above symptoms means your child is too ill to come to center (e.g. Tylenol, Gravol, Advil).

Hand washing is one of the most effective ways to limit the spread of infection. We ask that everyone who enters ErinoakKids complete hand hygiene upon entering. Please also wash or sanitize your hands after wiping ones nose, after toileting or diapering and after eating.

Certain precautions will be made for clients who are found to have an organism that is resistant to antibiotic treatment such as wearing protective garments. If your child has been diagnosed with one of these organisms please inform their therapist.
