What's New in Autism Services?

ErinoakKids is pleased to have been provided with new funding to provide two new programs for the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. These services are now in place and are available to children and youth who are registered with the Ontario Autism Program and reside in the Regions of Peel, Halton or Dufferin County.

Entry to School Program
Available to children aged three to six years old, the Entry to School (ETS) Program supports each client's successful first-time transition into school. The program is delivered in partnership with Dufferin Child and Family Services, Reach Out Centre for Kids, Woodview Mental Health and Autism Services and Community Living North Halton. Services are provided in groups in a classroom-style setting at ErinoakKids' clinical sites in Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville, giving our young clients exposure to a real-life school-like environment in preparation for their big day! Visit our Entry to School Program page for all the details.

Urgent Response Services
Effective April 1, 2022, ErinoakKids now offers up to 12 weeks of Urgent Response Services (URS) to children and youth (up to 18 years of age). These services are designed to respond rapidly to a child’s specific need and to prevent escalation of risk of harm to self, others and/or property. Delivered in partnership with Dufferin Child and Family Services, Reach Out Centre for Kids and Sunbeam Community & Developmental Services, URS offerings include:
  • Short-term interdisciplinary consultation
  • Day and evening respite
  • Direct support to the family and/or professionals involved to implement intervention and/or therapy techniques with the child/youth
  • Service navigation and coordination to existing services outside of the OAP
Families can contact ErinoakKids at 905-855-2690 and press 6 to speak with a member of our Intake team. Referrals are assessed and entry into the program is dependent upon the severity of risk and family need. For more information, visit our Urgent Response Services page.
