Emergency Codes and Actions

Emergencies can happen at any time. ErinoakKids has established clear emergency procedures, and all visitors should be aware of the codes and their meanings. Staff are trained to act promptly, and visitors are expected to follow directions given during any emergency.

To activate emergencies, dial extension 5555.

Emergency Code:	Meaning/ Action to take:
RED	Fire/ Evacuation: Leave the building immediately through the closest, safest exit. Follow staff instructions to proceed to the designated meeting area outside and wait until authorized to return.
BLUE	Medical Emergency: If you witness a medical emergency, call ext. 5555 immediately. Trained personnel will respond.
YELLOW	Missing Child: If a child is missing, a search will be initiated. Visitors may be asked to remain in place and report any relevant information.
WHITE	Aggressive Person: In case of a disruptive individual, stay clear of the area and follow staff instructions. The situation will be handled by trained responders.
BLACK	Bomb Threat: Follow evacuation instructions if issued and do not interfere with emergency procedures.
BROWN	Chemical Spill: Leave the affected area immediately. Staff will secure the scene and contact Facilities for assessment.
ORANGE	Disaster (e.g. power outage, gas leak): Evacuate if instructed and follow staff directions for your safety.
LOCKDOWN	Aggressive Person/ Weapon: Secure yourself in the nearest safe location, remain quiet and wait for the "All Clear" from authorities.
