Project BEYOND:
Improving Body Functions through Participation

Can participating in community activities help you mentally and physically?

This study is looking at benefits of participating in a leisure activity of choice.

What's Involved?

You will work with an occupational therapist to:

  • Choose an activity you would like to try (for example: playing an instrument, a sport, cooking lessons, etc.)
  • Participate in the activity with a support team
  • Take some surveys and participate in physical assessments to track your progress

Criteria

  • Aged 10-18 years
  • with a physical disability (for example: cerebral palsy, spina bifida, spinal cord injury, non-progressive musculoskeletal disorders, juvenile arthritis, etc.)
  • with any level of mobility restriction
  • communicates in English or French (Youth with cognitive or communication needs can participate with help from parents or research staff.)

Compensation
The study will pay up to $250 for activity and equipment costs, and you will get to choose a gift card to thank you for your time.
