Home and Vehicle Modification

You can make your home and vehicle more accessible.

Accessible home modifications can make your home easier to navigate and safer for individuals with disabilities. Common modifications include installing ramps, a stair lift, raised-height toilets, non-slip flooring and bathroom grab bars.

Specialized vehicle modifications can be installed in cars to make your vehicle more accessible. Common modifications include seat belt adjustments, safety bars and straps, ramps, swivel seats and hand controls.

There are many factors to consider if you are thinking about a home or vehicle modification. Your Occupational Therapist (OT) is a great resource to help get you started and guide you through the process.

Home and Vehicle Modification Information Fair

ErinoakKids hosts in-person Home and Vehicle Modification Information Fairs that provide an opportunity for families to learn more about common home and vehicle modifications to suit their needs as well as the process around completing modifications.

Vendors are also present, providing valuable knowledge and expertise to share with families. They bring with them a variety of equipment for families to see and explore firsthand such as accessible vans, portable lifts, bathing equipment, car seats, driving modifications and more.

The information fair runs once a year in person typically in spring. A virtual presentation is held late fall/early winter. If you're interested in attending, please speak with your clinician!
