Orthopedic Clinic

Referral Criteria:

This clinic is specific for clients who require a specialist orthopedic surgical assessment and intervention management.

Clients who require monitoring for hip surveillance and/or scoliosis secondary to a neuromotor condition or who are at risk for contractures should be referred to the Cerebral Palsy Neuromotor clinic.

Referrals to this clinic only occur internally from the Cerebral Palsy/Neuromotor clinic.

Who is part of the team: Hospital for Sick Children’s Orthopedic Surgeon and team, ErinoakKids Physiotherapist

How to prepare for the appointment:

Your child’s Health Card. The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care requires us to validate your health card at every clinic visit.
Older clients may be more comfortable in shorts during the assessment
If your child requires a lift, please bring your sling and have your child sitting on the sling in the wheelchair

How can I prepare my child prior to the visit: Your child may be asked to complete a series of physical tasks in order to assess their mobility and general level of functioning. Your child’s range of motion will be assessed while lying down on the assessment bed.
